Ethereum is drawing sharply divided price forecasts as the crypto market enters mid-September 2026, with analysts mapping both a near-term breakout toward $3,000 and a longer-term cycle that could see ETH spike above $10,000 before collapsing to $800. According to CoinMarketCap data cited in recent coverage, ETH has gained more than 34% over the past 30 days, but only 1.44% over the previous seven days, reflecting a period of consolidation around the $2,520 level.
Independent analyst LAR laid out a dramatic 2027 scenario for Ethereum on social media. He argued that Ethereum's monthly structure since 2021 has formed a prolonged sideways range, with the earlier climb from $800 to $4,600 representing only part of a larger consolidation. In his view, ETH is likely to enter a distribution phase in 2026/27, then stage a powerful advance toward roughly $10,500 based on Fibonacci levels. That move, however, would be followed by a "Black Swan" event dragging Ethereum as low as $800. LAR added that such a crash would be designed to shake out weak hands and force maximum disbelief in crypto, stating that Bitcoin could decline from $110,000 to $30,000 in the same scenario.
On a shorter timeframe, analyst Ali Charts identified a triangle forming on Ethereum's 12-hour chart that could deliver a 21% rally toward $3,000. The setup resembles a previous triangle breakout that lifted ETH 30.91% within three days. For the current structure to confirm, buyers would need a decisive 12-hour close above resistance between $2,500 and $2,565, ideally supported by rising trading volume. If Ethereum converts that zone into support, the next checkpoint sits near $2,750 before the $3,000 target. The bullish structure would weaken on a loss of the rising support line near $2,400, while a decline below $2,350 could invalidate the setup and expose lower support around $2,250.
The competing narratives highlight Ethereum's precarious position: near-term technicals point higher, but longer-term cycle analysis warns of extreme volatility and a potential black swan drawdown after a major top.
