The UK crypto compliance landscape is moving into sharper focus as industry body CryptoUK and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) roll out educational webinars for firms ahead of incoming regulatory changes.
CryptoUK announced two sessions in October 2026. The first, on October 1, will focus on the Cryptoasset Reporting Framework (CARF), explaining new reporting obligations to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and what they mean for different crypto businesses. The second, on October 15, will examine the Market Abuse Regulation for Cryptoassets (MARC), with particular attention to market abuse rules and their application to crypto trading platforms.
According to CryptoUK, the sessions will feature legal, compliance, and industry specialists and are designed to help firms align with UK regulatory standards. The organization emphasized that understanding these requirements will be critical as businesses prepare for changes expected from HMRC and FCA frameworks.
Meanwhile, the FCA has made available an on-demand webinar titled “Introduction to applying the FCA Handbook for Regulated Cryptoasset Activities.” The session covers key compliance areas including Consumer Duty, conduct standards, and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR). It also examines how international firms can align with the UK’s regulatory framework as oversight becomes stricter.
These initiatives reflect a broader shift toward compliance and consumer protection in the UK crypto market. While no specific digital assets were singled out, firms and traders are watching the regulatory calendar closely because the eventual application of CARF and MARC could influence market behavior and operational strategies.
