Travala and the AVA Foundation announced on September 23, 2026 a new matching buyback structure for the AVA token, introducing a Travala-funded open-market buyback that operates alongside the foundation's existing rewards-replenishment program.
Under the previous model, the AVA Foundation repurchased the exact amount of AVA distributed to AVA Smart Program members each month and returned those tokens to the Ecosystem Incentives Wallet. According to the announcement, 4,824,722 AVA has been repurchased through historical buybacks. Starting now, Travala will independently match that same amount every month and transfer the tokens to the new Travala AVA Strategic Reserve Wallet, which is secured by multi-signature custody. Travala has committed never to sell or transfer AVA held in the reserve.
The inaugural buyback has already been completed. The AVA Foundation's September buyback of 369,881.04 AVA for August givebacks was matched by Travala with an additional 369,881.04 AVA, bringing total open-market repurchases to 739,762.08 AVA for the period. Travala's allocation was moved to the reserve wallet 0x7bed1889c21d9eb3560463c14cd74fe29f2d03b6, where it will remain outside circulating supply.
CEO Juan Otero said: "AVA is at the center of everything we're building at Travala. It's how our community is rewarded and how they engage with the platform every day. This matching buyback reflects just how integral AVA is to our ecosystem, and we're proud to make that commitment permanent and fully verifiable for the community that's built this with us."
The buyback mechanism scales with platform activity: higher AVA Smart member givebacks lead to larger foundation buybacks and larger matching Travala buybacks. Each monthly allocation to the reserve is removed from circulating supply, and Travala will submit the reserve wallet address to CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko for treatment as non-circulating under their methodologies. Both wallets are verifiable on-chain, and monthly figures will be reported publicly.
The update follows AVA's recent listing on Bithumb's KRW market and Travala's recognition as an Amazon Web Services customer case study for the general availability of Bedrock AgentCore. Travala, founded in 2017 and backed by Binance, offers more than 2.2 million properties across 230 countries and accepts over 100 cryptocurrencies.
