Privy and OpenZeppelin Expand TRON Developer Infrastructure

Key takeaways:

  • TRON's USDT dominance could deepen as Stripe-backed Privy simplifies stablecoin payment and treasury infrastructure.
  • OpenZeppelin's audited contracts may reduce smart contract risks, attracting DeFi builders to TRON.
  • Watch TRON's USDT flows and developer activity for structural growth signs, not short-term hype.

TRON DAO announced two major developer infrastructure integrations on September 24, 2026, expanding tools for wallets, payments, stablecoin operations, and smart contract security on the TRON network. Privy, a Stripe company, deepened its support for TRON, while OpenZeppelin brought its security-focused smart contract libraries and development suite to the ecosystem.

The Privy integration gives developers and businesses the ability to programmatically construct, sign, and broadcast supported TRON transactions, monitor wallet activity and on-chain events through balance and transaction webhooks, and use policy controls for spending limits, recipient allowlists, and transaction approval or restriction rules. Transfer APIs also allow supported assets on TRON to be moved programmatically. Privy said the capabilities are designed for stablecoin payment solutions, treasury workflows, wallets, and other on-chain financial products.

TRON DAO founder Justin Sun said TRON has become an important network for stablecoin activity globally, and the integration makes it easier for developers to build on that foundation. Privy CEO and co-founder Henri Stern added that companies are increasingly using TRON to move stablecoins across borders, especially in markets where USDT is already important. The announcement highlighted companies including Onafriq and Paystack that are already building wallet and treasury use cases with Privy and TRON.

TRON’s stablecoin footprint was underscored by network data: total transfer volume is approaching $30 trillion, the network hosts more than $94 billion in circulating USDT, and it has recorded more than 405 million user accounts, over 15 billion transactions, and about $29 billion in total value locked as of September 2026. Privy says more than 2,000 developers and businesses, including Ramp, Deel, and Hyperliquid, use its infrastructure to power over 160 million accounts and process billions of dollars in monthly volume.

OpenZeppelin integration gives TRON developers access to audited smart contract libraries, secure upgrade tools, and the Contracts Wizard. The tools cover tokens, access control, governance, passkey authentication, supply controls, permissions, and upgrade workflows. TRON DAO community spokesperson Sam Elfarra said OpenZeppelin lowers friction for builders and provides stronger foundations for applications operating at scale. OpenZeppelin Engineering Manager Pepe Blasco added that developers need trusted primitives on the network they are deploying to, and the goal is a robust path from first line to production.

OpenZeppelin, active since 2015, says its contracts library is behind $37 trillion in value transferred, with more than 900 security engagements that have surfaced over 10,000 vulnerabilities before production. The two integrations position TRON to attract more builders focused on stablecoin payments, decentralized finance, treasury management, and other on-chain financial applications.
