ARK Invest Tokenizes Venture Fund on Ethereum

Key takeaways:

  • ARK's Ethereum tokenization signals institutional validation, potentially boosting ETH demand as tokenized RWA infrastructure matures.
  • Ondo-BlackRock and Fed rules hint regulatory clarity, reducing compliance risk for tokenized assets.
  • Watch ETH as tokenized RWA growth turns structural, though ARKVX illiquidity caps near-term speculation.

ARK Invest has officially tokenized its actively managed ARK Venture Fund (ARKVX) on Ethereum through Securitize Corp., the firms announced on 24 September. Tokenized interests are initially available on Ethereum, with Securitize managing onchain issuance and the investor experience. The move represents the first time the flagship strategy has been brought onchain.

ARKVX is a closed-end interval fund investing across private and public disruptive-innovation companies. Its portfolio includes positions in OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe, and Databricks, among others. The tokenized interests represent a stake in the fund itself rather than direct ownership of the underlying companies. Since ARKVX is an interval fund, it offers limited liquidity through periodic repurchase offers and is not listed on an exchange.

Cathie Wood, ARK’s founder, CEO and chief investment officer, said: “Tokenizing the ARK Venture Fund puts our conviction in the evolution, if not revolution, of capital markets into practice.” Securitize co-founder and CEO Carlos Domingo added that bringing ARKVX onchain demonstrates how established managers can move existing products onto modern capital markets infrastructure.

The announcement is part of a wider institutional push. Separately, Ondo Finance has partnered with BlackRock to launch three onchain investment portfolios available only to eligible investors outside the U.S., underlining growing demand for blockchain-based financial products. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve proposed two stablecoin rules under the GENIUS Act, addressing capital and risk management requirements for issuers. The CFTC also clarified that registered derivatives firms can use blockchain for recordkeeping.

Together, these developments strengthen Ethereum’s role as a leading network for tokenized assets and could increase institutional adoption while shaping the compliance landscape for digital assets.
