Ethereum’s next major network upgrade, Glamsterdam, is scheduled to go live on the Sepolia testnet on October 6 at 16:53 Turkish time. The Ethereum Foundation confirmed activation at epoch 353,024 and slot 11,296,768. Validators running on Sepolia must upgrade both their execution-layer and consensus-layer software to the specified versions.
Glamsterdam combines the Amsterdam execution-layer update and the Gloas consensus-layer update into a single package. A central feature is ePBS, which separates block proposers from block-building structures at the protocol level and aims to make block production more reliable and efficient. The update also introduces block-level access lists designed to indicate in advance which Ethereum data transactions will touch, potentially supporting parallel transaction processing and future mainlayer capacity growth.
The October 6 activation only covers the Sepolia testnet. ETH holders do not need to take any action, and the exact mainnet date has not yet been confirmed. The mainnet schedule will be determined after testnet results are available, with activation expected later in Q4.
In the market, ETH closed near $2,687 on Oct. 4 after briefly reaching $2,765 a day earlier. The $2,800 level remains key resistance, while $2,600–$2,650 is the first meaningful support region. U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recorded three consecutive sessions of net outflows through Oct. 2, including $59.6 million on Sept. 30, $55.4 million on Oct. 1, and $17.3 million on Oct. 2, according to Farside Investors. This weakening institutional demand has added pressure to ETH’s attempt to extend its rally.
