Bitcoin is at a critical technical crossroad as it tests two closely watched support areas after failing to sustain momentum above the $88,000 resistance zone.
According to market analyst Doctor Profit, Bitcoin has returned to its daily 50-day moving average for the first meaningful retest since it reclaimed the indicator during its earlier recovery from the $60,000 region. In a post on X, the analyst said: “Now it did, and I think that this support will hold and continue to move up from here.”
The retest comes as BTC has slipped to around $82,000 after briefly dipping below $80,000 earlier on October 15. CryptoPotato's price analysis highlights the $80,000–$81,000 area as a critical demand zone, representing the bullish order block that preceded the last push toward resistance. Below that, the next significant support is seen in the $75,000–$77,000 range, where the September rally originated.
On the 4-hour chart, Bitcoin lost its short-term rising trendline and formed lower highs after repeated rejection near $87,000–$88,000. A successful defense of the $80,000 zone could produce a relief bounce toward $84,000, while a daily close below $80,000 would open the path toward the $75,000 order block and weaken the bullish market structure.
On-chain data from CryptoQuant's Bull-Bear Market Cycle Indicator adds nuance. The metric has moved back into positive bull-cycle territory after a prolonged bearish phase from late 2025 through much of 2026, with the 30-day moving average turning sharply higher. However, CryptoPotato notes that this recovery does not yet confirm a sustained bull market, especially with sellers still active near resistance and the longer-term 365-day moving average only flattening.
The immediate focus remains whether buyers can hold the $80,000–$81,000 support zone and transform the pullback into another leg higher.
