BNB Chain’s 37th Quarterly Burn Removes $1.2 Billion in BNB as Price Holds Below $750

Key takeaways:

  • BNB's $1.2B burn is deflationary, but weak RSI near 41 signals demand must improve.
  • Investors should watch $700 support; a break could outweigh burn-driven supply optimism.
  • Supply cuts are structural, but BNB needs network demand and volume growth for sustained upside.

BNB Chain has completed its 37th quarterly token burn, permanently removing 1,646,196.44 BNB worth approximately $1.197 billion directly on BNB Smart Chain. According to the BNB Foundation’s October 19 announcement, the operation reduced the reported total supply to 131,512,085 BNB at 10:05 a.m. UTC, as the network continues its long-term supply-reduction program toward 100 million tokens.

The latest burn exceeded the previous July event in both token quantity and dollar value. The 36th quarterly burn removed 1,615,827.795 BNB worth about $931.7 million, meaning the October operation destroyed an additional 30,368.645 BNB, or roughly 1.88% more tokens. The dollar value rose by approximately $265.6 million, or 28.5%, reflecting the higher BNB reference price of roughly $727.34 compared with about $576.61 in July.

The burn was carried out through BNB Chain’s Auto-Burn mechanism, which determines the amount to be removed using a defined formula tied to market prices and quarterly parameters. The BNB Foundation said the Lorentz and Maxwell network upgrades changed BNB Smart Chain block production speed, so burn formula parameters were adjusted to preserve the intended mechanism. A separate real-time mechanism, BEP-95, also destroys part of the transaction fees collected on BNB Smart Chain, with the burn ratio determined through validator governance. The foundation sends quarterly burn tokens to the blackhole address 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD.

BNB’s remaining supply now stands near 131.51 million, leaving approximately 31.51 million tokens above the 100 million target. Reaching that goal would require removing roughly 24% of the currently reported supply. However, the foundation noted that future burn quantities depend on applicable inputs, so the number of additional burns needed is not fixed.

At press time, BNB traded at approximately $725.45, gaining around 0.5% in 24 hours, with a market capitalization near $95.42 billion and daily trading volume of about $705.68 million. Despite the supply reduction, technical indicators show continued weak buying momentum. The 20-day simple moving average sits at $751.70, while the upper and lower Bollinger Bands are at $800.51 and $702.89. The Relative Strength Index stood at 41.32, below its moving average of 45.04 and the neutral 50 level. Immediate support is identified between $700 and $703, while buyers face initial resistance around $750–752, followed by stronger resistance between $780 and $800.

The large burn reduces future circulating supply, but it does not represent $1.2 billion in new open-market buying or guarantee an immediate price rally. BNB’s market performance will continue to depend on trading activity, network usage, investor sentiment and broader cryptocurrency market conditions.
