Cardano’s native token ADA has shifted from an early October rebound to a renewed downtrend. After climbing to a five-month high near $0.28, ADA now trades below $0.22, losing roughly 12% over the past week. On October 20, ADA was hovering around $0.216 on Binance, about 23% below its October 6 peak near $0.2825.
Technical analysts are watching several key levels. X user Sssebi noted that ADA traded below the 200-day moving average for more than a year, but recently closed a daily candle above it. Sssebi said a sustained hold could lead to a 'crazy ADA pump,' while adding that a 'big bounce' would depend on trading volume.
Other market voices offered mixed scenarios. Crypto With Gopal said ADA has formed a falling wedge after a prolonged downtrend, with buyers defending the $0.21 mark. A breakout above $0.23 could open the door toward $0.25. Trend Rider argued that a monthly close above $0.23 would confirm a price-floor reclamation, while rejection would turn old support into resistance.
Derivatives and on-chain data remain cautious. Binance positioning showed net longs around negative 345 million versus net shorts near 269 million, with long positioning deteriorating since early October. Whales offloaded more than 110 million ADA over five days, and daily active addresses fell by more than 40%, according to Ali Martinez. At the same time, exchange netflow data shows outflows exceeding inflows, suggesting some investors are moving coins to self-custody and reducing immediate selling pressure.
The bearish technical picture is reinforced by weak momentum indicators. Short-term RSI was near 40, medium and longer RSI readings around 42, CCI near -84, and MACD remained below zero. These are not capitulation-level extremes, but they do not yet support a bullish reversal.
Cardano’s development roadmap continues to advance. The Ouroboros Leios upgrade is designed to materially increase base-layer throughput, with recent testing reportedly reaching about 1,000 transactions per second under test conditions. Project Catalyst is also shifting toward results-based funding: twelve projects were selected from 117 applications for a roughly 2 million ADA pilot, covering stablecoin payments, lending, tokenized assets, identity and supply-chain applications.
Still, DeFi adoption remains a major concern. Cardano has only around $62 million in DeFi TVL, with 24-hour DEX volume near $1.4 million, about 14,140 active addresses and 32,148 transactions. In comparison, Solana has roughly $5.8 billion in DeFi TVL and about $1.4 billion in daily DEX volume. ADA’s market capitalization remains near $8 billion, so investors are paying for future execution rather than current activity.
For now, immediate support sits at $0.210–$0.215. A loss of that zone would put the psychological $0.20 level in play. A reclaim of $0.23–$0.24 would give traders a more constructive short-term structure.
