Ripple has announced that Arf, a liquidity provider for cross-border payment companies, is preparing to offer short-term working capital on the XRP Ledger using the dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD. The initiative targets licensed payment companies and addresses the financing gap that occurs between the start of an international transfer and its final settlement.
According to Ripple, payment firms often need to hold funds in advance across different countries to complete transactions. This can leave money sitting in specific accounts and reduce the capital available to businesses. Arf's approach aims to bridge that gap by providing short-term liquidity during the settlement cycle.
The announcement emphasized that the target audience is licensed payment companies, not individual investors. It also does not include a loan product for retail users or a direct XRP purchase program. Instead, the collaboration focuses on using RLUSD in the daily financing processes of payment companies operating on the XRP Ledger.
Ripple and Arf did not disclose a total financing commitment in their official statement, but the partnership highlights growing institutional use cases for RLUSD and the XRP Ledger in cross-border payments.
