Travala, the Binance-backed crypto-native travel booking platform, and the AVA Foundation announced the AVA Buyback Multiplier on October 22, 2026, upgrading the AVA Strategic Reserve launched in September 2026. The new structure scales Travala’s monthly match of the AVA Foundation’s buyback from 1x to as much as 3x, meaning total monthly AVA buybacks can reach up to four times the AVA giveback rewards earned by AVA Smart members for booking travel.
The AVA Foundation already buys back the AVA distributed as booking rewards in the previous month and returns it to its rewards pool. According to the announcement, the Foundation has repurchased 5,423,181 AVA to date, while Travala has matched two monthly buybacks since the reserve launched, bringing the AVA Strategic Reserve to 598,458.78 AVA. The reserve is held in a multi-signature wallet that Travala has committed never to sell or transfer from.
The multiplier is determined by the previous month’s AVA giveback volume. Travala matches 1x below $100,000, 1.5x at $100,000, 2x at $150,000, 2.5x at $200,000, and a maximum of 3x at $250,000 and above. If monthly givebacks fall below a threshold, the match returns to the lower level the following month. All purchases are reported monthly and verifiable on-chain.
“The AVA Buyback Multiplier ties AVA even more closely to our members’ travel bookings,” said Steve Hipwell, Lead Ecosystem Contributor at AVA Foundation. “Every booking that earns AVA giveback rewards now counts towards the next step up, and every token Travala buys back is permanently locked away in the AVA Strategic Reserve multi-signature custody wallet.” He added that the program aims to make AVA tokenomics simple, transparent, and built around real activity.
The update follows the AVA Smart Program lock update and the launch of the Travala AI Agent on BNB Chain announced earlier this month. Travala offers more than 2.2 million properties across 230 countries, over 600 airlines, 50,000 car rental locations, and 400,000 activities globally, accepting over 100 cryptocurrencies.
