Injective Launches SICI Perpetuals Tracking Nvidia GPU Rental Index With 10x Leverage

Key takeaways:

  • Injective's GPU futures let traders hedge AI compute costs, deepening INJ's real-world asset narrative.
  • Nvidia H100-heavy weighting signals demand for AI training silicon, but concentration risks amplify INJ volatility.
  • CFTC compute-perp push and Gartner AI-cloud warning mean INJ traders should watch regulatory, consolidation risks.

Injective has launched a new perpetual futures market tied to rental prices for five Nvidia GPUs, with the Super Intelligence Compute Index, or SICI, now live on mainnet as of Oct. 26, 2026. The product offers up to 10x leverage and uses USDC as margin, allowing traders to take positions on AI computing costs while giving AI developers and infrastructure providers a way to hedge exposure.

The index basket gives the Nvidia H100 SXM 80GB a 40% weighting, followed by the B200 at 25% and the H200 at 15%. The A100 SXM 80GB and GeForce RTX 4090 each account for 10%. Injective said the basket covers hardware used for large AI training jobs, model serving, fine-tuning, and lower-cost inference, with the consumer-grade RTX 4090 included because developers rent those cards to run open-source models and smaller AI workloads.

London-based capital markets firm LO:TECH builds and prices the benchmark. It collects dollar-per-GPU-hour rental data from compute marketplaces, pooling on-demand and spot listings, and applies validation and outlier checks. Each GPU’s reference price was rebased to 100 at the July 22, 2026 daily fixing. LO:TECH then combines the five normalized component levels using the stated weights and publishes a trailing seven-day average of the hourly basket. The index is quoted in points, calculated hourly in UTC, with the 19:00 UTC reading serving as the daily fixing. If the methodology changes, a separate version will be created alongside the existing live series rather than replacing it.

The launch expands Injective’s earlier Nvidia H100 rental-price contract introduced in August 2025 through a collaboration with Squaretower. Injective has also previously offered AI-related exposure through its AIX index perpetual, launched in January 2025, which combined AI-related tokens with equities including Nvidia and TSMC. Injective said it plans to introduce another onchain financial product in the coming days.

The new derivative arrives amid growing interest in GPU-linked financial products and rising pressure on AI cloud providers. Hyperliquid Policy Center submitted a request to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Oct. 20 for regulated compute perpetuals tied to GPU rentals and AI model running costs. Bullish announced a $100 million facility for USD.AI on Aug. 28 to finance GPU-secured loans. Broader industry commentary also highlights risk in the AI compute sector, including a Gartner warning that more than 80% of specialist AI cloud providers could cease operating independently by 2030.
