Aave V4 has officially opened its first externally curated lending markets, marking a structural shift in decentralized lending. The deployment, managed by institutional DeFi platform Sentora, is now live on Ethereum and allows users to borrow Ripple USD (RLUSD), PayPal USD (PYUSD) and Origin Dollar (OUSD) against selected yield-bearing and blue-chip collateral across three separate markets.
The launch introduces Aave's new Hub-and-Spoke architecture, which separates shared liquidity from individual lending markets. Sentora operates as the first external curator, controlling collateral requirements, interest-rate curves, liquidation settings and oracle configuration for its markets. The initial deployment includes an RLUSD Yield market, an OUSD Yield market and a Bluechip market where users can borrow RLUSD, PYUSD or OUSD against kBTC. Sentora says it has allocated more than $2 billion across onchain strategies and uses more than 1,000 risk models within its broader institutional DeFi platform.
Aave DAO retains ultimate control over the underlying smart contracts and administrative permissions. Risk-increasing changes are subject to a 48-hour timelock, while new collateral assets and Hub deployments remain subject to governance oversight. The DAO can revoke Sentora's operational permissions through governance. The new markets intentionally exclude USDC and USDT to avoid competing with Aave's existing liquidity pools, instead creating venues for newer stablecoins to develop lending liquidity. Aave is also considering a separate proposal from Babylon Labs that would eventually allow borrowing against native BTC without wrapping or bridging.
In parallel, Chainlink has launched Chainlink 24/7, a continuous pricing service for tokenized real-world assets that covers equities, commodities and other assets across trading sessions, weekends and holidays. Chainlink named Aave as an adopter for institutional lending backed by tokenized real-world assets, although it did not disclose a specific Aave market, asset coverage or deployment schedule. Announced at Link:NYC on Oct. 29, the service is positioned for prediction markets, perpetual futures and collateral management. Chainlink's announcement used the tagline "Global markets. No closing bell."
The launch builds on Chainlink's January introduction of 24/5 U.S. Equities Streams, which covers regular trading, premarket, postmarket and overnight sessions across more than 40 blockchains. Chainlink's documentation warns that extended-hours and overnight trading can involve fewer data providers, wider bid-ask spreads and less frequent price updates; the 24/5 methodology uses an exponential moving average to smooth prices. Chainlink previously introduced feeds for Coinbase tokenized stocks including Nvidia, Meta, Apple and Alphabet on Base, and Robinhood confirmed in October that eligible Stock Token holders could borrow stablecoins through Morpho using Chainlink stock-price feeds that update 24/5.
The developments arrive as the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) schedules a Dec. 15 industry roundtable on the viability of continuous derivatives trading. Chairman Mike Selig said the agency would not take "a one-size-fits-all approach to 24/7 trading." Together, Aave's curated lending launch and Chainlink's 24/7 pricing point to a more modular, institutionally oriented DeFi lending stack, with separate hubs, spokes and risk managers replacing one-size-fits-all liquidity pools.
