Coinbase Prime has launched direct institutional access to Deribit options and perpetual contracts in approved jurisdictions, with eligible US financial firms now able to trade more than 20 digital assets through a unified liquidity pool.
The integration, announced on November 4, 2026, covers assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Avalanche and HYPE, while collateral support currently includes BTC, ETH and USDC. Coinbase said additional margin assets are scheduled for future software releases.
Trading operates under Coinbase Financial Markets, a registered futures commission merchant supervised by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The regulatory architecture is designed to give institutional participants compliant access to offshore derivatives depth without complex cross-border structures.
Deribit brings significant liquidity weight to the connection, having processed more than $1 trillion in volume over the past 12 months and maintaining tens of billions of dollars in options open interest. The platform also routes spot orders into Coinbase's main exchange order book, deepening liquidity across both venues.
Coinbase said the move offers regulated access to global options and perpetual contracts for institutions in the US and other eligible regions. Market observers expect the integration to increase capital efficiency, streamline risk modeling and improve multi-asset margin offsets for fund managers.
The launch follows Deribit's acquisition of a broker-dealer license from Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, adding an offshore regulatory anchor to the arrangement.
