Dogecoin's price has captured renewed attention after its monthly Relative Strength Index (RSI) dropped to its lowest level in 13 years. The reading, shared by market analyst Cryptollica, marks a historic oversold condition that some view as a potential opportunity zone, while others caution that technical indicators alone do not guarantee a rebound.
The monthly RSI low comes during a typically weak month for DOGE. August has seen small gains of 0.79% so far in 2026 and 1.90% in 2025, but the three previous years all ended with sharp declines—16.9% in 2024, 17.9% in 2023, and 9.98% in 2022. This mixed history leaves traders split on whether the oversold signal will spark a recovery or if bearish pressure will persist into the third quarter.
Adding to the discourse, Dogecoin community member Mishaboar issued a security warning, advising long-term holders to keep funds in cold wallets rather than smartphone-based solutions. He highlighted that smartphones remain vulnerable through constant connectivity (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile networks, NFC) and that disabling internet does not fully eliminate malware risks. While software wallets are fine for small transactions, he stressed that cold storage remains essential for safeguarding significant holdings.
As DOGE continues to trade near historic lows, traders await clearer signs of buying pressure before calling a breakout, leaving the market in a state of cautious uncertainty.
