XRP's brief August advance has faded, with the token now changing hands between $1.34 and $1.37 as daily volatility collapses. According to TradingView, Bollinger Bands have tightened into a narrow horizontal band, a condition traders describe as "anti-volatility." In previous cycles, this type of compression preceded prolonged sideways drift that lasted as long as 240 days.
The pause is not occurring in a vacuum. The U.S. Senate is scheduled to vote on the CLARITY Act on Sept. 15, a bill that stalled over the summer and prompted institutions to freeze activity, while inflows into XRP ETFs fell by 93%. The following day, the Federal Reserve will announce its interest rate decision. Renewed inflation pressures—PPI has jumped to 5.4% and Brent crude has climbed above $107—have markets pricing a hawkish outcome with about 70% probability, pushing capital toward cash.
Despite the macro overhang, on-chain data shows some support. CryptoQuant reported a peak inflow of coins to exchanges on Sept. 9, followed by rapid outflows. Binance's XRP reserves fell to 2.631 billion tokens in a single day. After the price hit a local low of $1.33, traders stopped selling and began withdrawing assets while waiting for the upcoming news.
Historically, XRP accumulation has played out in two time frames: a short cycle of 79–89 days, which would point to a wake-up in late November or early December 2026, and a macro cycle of up to 240 days, with the prior exhausting flat lasting 236 days before the Aug. 31 breakout. In the worst-case scenario, XRP may not exit consolidation until spring 2027.
