On October 8, 2026, NEAR Protocol pushed into the top 20 cryptocurrencies after the commercial launch of QTC, the native token of Quantus Network and the first post-quantum asset on the near.com platform. NEAR rose 8.7% over 24 hours to trade between $5.31 and $5.41, reaching a market capitalization of $7 billion and displacing Stellar (XLM) from 20th place in CoinGecko’s global ranking.
The QTC launch marks a notable milestone in blockchain security: the asset is protected against attacks by supercomputers through the ML-DSA cryptographic standard approved by NIST. NEAR’s Confidential Intents architecture enables direct, confidential swaps of QTC for more than 180 assets across 30 blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana, directly from wallets while bypassing vulnerable traditional bridges.
The breakout extended a two-month NEAR uptrend that began after the token broke out of a prolonged accumulation phase around $1.50–$1.80 in late August. The rally was also supported by NEAR’s integration with Robinhood Crypto Chain, simplified operations with the USDG stablecoin and Ethereum, and institutional inflows from funds including Digital Commodities, which have been diversifying toward AI infrastructure and chain abstraction technologies.
NEAR Protocol already supports quantum-safe account signatures on mainnet and plans to upgrade its consensus by the end of 2027. The QTC integration is being viewed as a practical demonstration of the network’s readiness for next-generation technology and a potential catalyst for further liquidity flows and user engagement.
