Ripple Launches AI-Powered 24/7 Treasury Returns for Corporate Cash

Key takeaways:

  • RLUSD yield launch lacks disclosed rates, keeping adoption claims speculative until details emerge.
  • XRP remains disconnected from the treasury product, limiting near-term token demand despite Ripple's enterprise expansion.
  • Watch RLUSD yield disclosure versus the 83% deposit benchmark; competitive rates could shift corporate cash flows.

Ripple has expanded its corporate treasury platform with two major additions: an always-on operating mode and a product called 24/7 Returns that lets eligible companies earn yields on RLUSD and other qualifying digital assets held in a Ripple wallet outside traditional banking hours. The announcement, made on October 26 ahead of Ripple’s Swell 2026 conference in New York, positions Ripple Treasury as a tool for putting idle corporate cash to work overnight, on weekends and during holidays.

The new features build on Ripple’s $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury and its GSmart AI layer. According to Ripple, an orchestration layer now connects GSmart with cash positioning, forecasting, reconciliation, liquidity management and payments. Ripple says AI agents can operate in three modes: manual, semi-autonomous and fully autonomous. In semi-autonomous mode, agents execute permitted actions within preset limits and notify staff afterward; fully autonomous mode runs approved workflows end to end with an audit trail. Ripple stressed that companies choose the mode workflow by workflow, so a treasurer could automate routine overnight liquidity transfers while still personally approving every currency hedge.

Ripple named American Airlines, Subway, Christian Louboutin, Adecco, Kingfisher and Trax among global businesses its treasury solutions serve, but did not state whether any have signed up for 24/7 Returns or hold RLUSD. The company also cited the 2026 Association for Financial Professionals Liquidity Survey, which found that 46% of organizations increased U.S. cash holdings over the past year and 86% of treasury professionals would choose real-time money market funds if their investment policies permitted.

However, key details are missing. Ripple did not disclose the annual rate, minimum balance, investment mechanism or customer adoption figures. The release also does not confirm whether repo or Ripple Prime sits underneath the product, despite earlier plans for overnight repo returns on idle cash. RLUSD on its own pays no interest, and nothing in the announcement suggests the returns are risk-free or comparable to an insured bank deposit.

XRP remains on the sidelines: Ripple says customers can keep conventional payment rails and switch to digital ones where it makes sense, so a business could use the treasury platform for forecasting and reconciliation without touching the XRP Ledger. Ripple quotes more than 1,000 customers in 160 countries and $13 trillion in payments processed in 2025, but those figures largely describe software that routes payments through banks and say little about XRP or RLUSD volume.

The competitive benchmark is conservative: according to the AFP survey, organizations keep an average of 83% of short-term investment balances in bank deposits, money market funds and Treasury bills. Ripple will be measured against those instruments as well as established treasury vendors such as Kyriba and SAP once it publishes a rate.
