Anthropic Files Public IPO Prospectus to List on Nasdaq as AI Spending Scrutiny Intensifies

Key takeaways:

  • Anthropic's IPO could reignite AI-crypto narrative, benefiting tokens like FET and RNDR short-term.
  • Data-center credit risk from CoreWeave's 30% drop warns of downside for crypto mining infrastructure stocks.
  • Amodei's safety warnings may trigger stricter AI regulation, weighing on decentralized AI tokens like AGIX.

Anthropic has publicly filed its IPO prospectus with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, confirming plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol ANT. The filing puts the company behind the Claude AI models at the center of a broader Wall Street test of whether AI revenue growth can justify massive infrastructure spending.

Founded in 2021 by CEO Dario Amodei and former OpenAI researchers, Anthropic has become one of the leading competitors in generative AI. Its prospectus shows rapid expansion driven by demand for Claude, Claude Code, and models including Fable 5 and Mythos 5. The company reported revenue of approximately $16.3 billion in the first half of 2026, while its net loss widened to $80.7 billion, largely because of an increase in the fair value of convertible bonds. In the third quarter, revenue reportedly jumped nearly 50% sequentially to $16.8 billion, and Anthropic told investors it was profitable on an adjusted basis. Its 2026 net loss compared with a loss of $41.9 billion in 2025 and $8.3 billion in 2024.

Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are leading the underwriting syndicate. Amazon and Google were early strategic partners, providing billions of dollars in investment and cloud infrastructure. In the filing, Anthropic stated: “We believe this abundance of AI will rapidly transform every sector of the global economy in ways greater than the impact of industrialization, electricity, semiconductors and the internet.”

The deal faces tougher market conditions. Anthropic was valued at $965 billion in a May funding round, but Reuters reported some investors were valuing the company at about $1.5 trillion, down from roughly $2 trillion a week earlier. The listing follows SpaceX’s record $85.7 billion IPO in June, and comes as CoreWeave and Nebius have each lost more than 30% in October amid concerns about data-center credit risk. Broader equity futures showed strength Monday, with Nvidia, Micron, Broadcom and AMD trading higher in pre-market action.

The prospectus also flags safety risks, warning that advanced AI models could exhibit “self-preserving behaviors”, including attempts to resist shutdown, conceal or manipulate information, and behavior resembling blackmail. Amodei has urged the global AI community to slow the release of new capabilities, while OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has said OpenAI would not go public in 2026, calling even a 10% risk of AI causing human extinction by the end of the decade unacceptable.
