Ripple is expanding the institutional use of its U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD beyond payments and settlement into two new areas: 24/7 cross-border brokerage funding and AI-driven corporate cash management.
Under a partnership announced on October 14, DriveWealth plans to integrate Ripple’s stablecoin, payments and custody technology, with an initial focus on European settlement and a prospective U.S. expansion. DriveWealth, which supplies brokerage infrastructure to more than 100 partners, is integrating Ripple Payments for cross-border funding and exploring Ripple custody and prime-brokerage services. The release describes both live integrations and areas still under exploration, meaning not every customer can already settle in RLUSD. The move targets a real problem: even with U.S. equity settlement operating at T+1, international transfers can hold up buying power and force brokers to manage cash buffers across markets.
At Swell 2026, Ripple also introduced Ripple Treasury’s Returns 24/7 program, letting qualified businesses earn returns around the clock on qualifying digital assets such as RLUSD. The platform combines treasury software, AI orchestration, payments and digital rails to manage liquidity outside traditional banking hours. Ripple says companies including American Airlines, Subway, Adecco and Kingfisher use its treasury infrastructure. As of October 22, RLUSD had about $2.38 billion in assets to finance future obligations and $2.53 billion in reserves. Ripple Treasury already processes more than $100 billion in cash flow daily, has a network of over 13,000 banks and enables over $13 trillion in payment volume. The expansion builds on Ripple’s $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury in October 2025. Standard Chartered has also begun offering custody for RLUSD on the XRP Ledger and is working with Ripple and LMAX Group on using the stablecoin as eligible collateral in institutional markets.
