Flare Joins XRP Ledger Recommended Validator List

Key takeaways:

  • Flare validator endorsement deepens XRPL-Ripple alignment, potentially boosting FLR sentiment without direct token rewards.
  • Matching 35 validator keys cuts consensus fragmentation risk, subtly supporting XRP's institutional credibility narrative.
  • Yet list convergence raises centralization concerns; watch XRPL operators' UNL choices for governance risk.

The XRP Ledger Foundation has updated its recommended validator list, adding Flare and removing Anodos Finance at Anodos’s own request. The change was announced on October 28, 2026, and brings the foundation’s list into alignment with Ripple’s published list: both now contain 35 matching validator keys.

According to the foundation, Flare was added because it participates in XRPL governance and contributes to the ecosystem. The foundation said it welcomed Flare to the recommended list and cited alignment with XRPL’s core values. In a separate post, it thanked Anodos for its contributions, attributing the removal to Anodos’s decision to retire its XRP Ledger validator by the end of October.

A comparison of published validator-list payloads confirmed the overlap. The foundation’s payload, under sequence number 2026102701, and Ripple’s payload, under sequence number 86, each contained 35 shared validation public keys. Both included a validator manifest with the domain xrpl-verification.flare.network. The comparison measured list membership only and does not establish which configurations individual server operators use.

XRPL technical documentation states that default server configuration uses recommended lists from both the foundation and Ripple. Operators retain control over their own Unique Node Lists, but overlap between trusted validators is needed to avoid disagreements over validated ledgers. List publishers recommend validators based on factors such as past performance, verified identities, and responsible IT practices, and validators receive no XRP rewards for operating servers.

The foundation did not announce any payment, grant, or new FXRP product launch alongside the membership changes. However, Flare’s XRP-related decentralized finance services already exist. Flare activated FXRP on mainnet in September 2025 with version 1.2 of its FAssets protocol and an initial first-week minting cap of 5 million FXRP. FXRP is described as a one-to-one representation of XRP secured by an overcollateralized system of independent agents and Flare’s native data protocols.

By July 28, Flare had introduced single-signature vault deposits through Smart Accounts v1.3, letting users mint FXRP and deposit it without managing a separate EVM wallet or gas token. On August 3, Flare announced that Sentora had accepted FXRP as collateral in its RLUSD Main vault on Morpho, enabling borrowing of Ripple’s dollar stablecoin against XRP-linked collateral on Ethereum. RLUSD itself launched in December 2024 under a New York Department of Financial Services limited-purpose trust company charter. In an October 6 update, Flare said Firelight had gone live with cover for Sentora’s USD Protected Vault and Protected RWA Vaults.
