Securitize to Integrate Stellar for Tokenized Asset Issuance

Key takeaways:

  • Securitize's Stellar integration could boost XLM demand via institutional RWA issuance.
  • Only 0.1% DeFi collateral usage signals structural upside if Stellar RWA composability improves.
  • Watch XLM sentiment shifts; institutional adoption may be priced slowly, limiting near-term rallies.

Stellar's institutional asset-tokenization push gained fresh momentum this week as Securitize confirmed plans to integrate with the Stellar network and new data showed the platform's real-world assets have climbed to more than $3.56 billion.

Announced alongside Meridian 2026 in Lisbon, the Securitize integration is designed to let institutional asset managers issue and manage tokenized financial assets directly on Stellar. The firm already supports Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche, and is widely recognized for issuing and managing BlackRock's BUIDL tokenized money market fund. By adding Stellar, Securitize said it is broadening the blockchain options available to professional clients without sacrificing the regulatory and operational standards expected by asset managers.

According to Securitize, Stellar offers capabilities such as asset issuance, fast settlement, and compliance-oriented functionality. The network already supports notable institutional activity: Franklin Templeton operates a tokenized money market fund on Stellar, and MoneyGram uses the network for daily money movement. Carlos Domingo, CEO and co-founder of Securitize, said Stellar has built the fourth-largest ecosystem for tokenized real-world assets, reflecting growing institutional demand for tokenization.

Separately, data highlighted by @redstone_defi showed Stellar's real-world asset base expanded roughly 5.5 times in one year, reaching the $3.56 billion level. However, only about 0.1% of those assets are currently used as collateral in decentralized finance, a gap that suggests considerable room for further expansion if DeFi integration deepens.

The integration extends Securitize's multichain strategy following a landmark year. Founded in 2017, Securitize went public on the New York Stock Exchange in July and simultaneously tokenized its own stock on Solana and Avalanche. For Stellar, the partnership reinforces its position in the fast-growing tokenized RWA sector and may attract additional institutional flows as asset managers seek compliant, efficient blockchain infrastructure.
