Strategy has unveiled a new method for distributing its common and preferred stock through onchain markets, signaling a deeper push into tokenized assets. According to data highlighted by Token Terminal, nearly $500 million in MSTR and STRC tokens have achieved a remarkable 3,565% increase over the past year. The move reflects growing institutional demand for digital finance and could reshape how companies approach corporate stock distribution.
Performance figures shared by executive chairman Michael Saylor show that Strategy’s common shares returned 77.4% between June 26 and October 23, 2026, outperforming the company’s preferred securities. Over the same period, STRC returned 38.6%, STRD gained 35%, STRK returned 32.6%, and STRF gained 22.9%. Dividends were counted on ex-dividend dates but not reinvested.
Strategy is also actively managing its capital structure. The company repurchased approximately $385.5 million in STRC shares over two weeks, spending $192.4 million during October 5–11 and another $193.1 million during October 12–18. The preferred-stock repurchase authorization has been expanded to $3 billion, with about $1.16 billion remaining available.
Shareholders are scheduled to vote on October 28, 2026, on a proposal to make dividend payments on the four preferred securities more frequent. If approved, every calendar day would become a record date, with payments generally following on the next business day. STRC’s first daily record date would be November 1, with payment on November 2, while STRF, STRK and STRD would follow on January 1 and January 4, 2027.
The expansion into onchain stock distribution combines Strategy’s Bitcoin treasury model with securities designed for different investor preferences. While the broader crypto market shows mixed momentum, Strategy’s tokenized asset strategy stands out as a notable pivot toward innovation in corporate finance.
