Ripple has moved to expand its collaboration with Robinhood, positioning its dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD as infrastructure for institutional settlement, treasury operations and financing. Under the agreement, Robinhood and Bitstamp will gain access to RLUSD for institutional settlement, Ripple Treasury for operational workflows and Ripple Prime for financing, extending the stablecoin beyond simple crypto trading.
The integration links RLUSD with a broader financial stack rather than limiting it to exchange order books. Robinhood Crypto executive Johann Kerbrat said the companies are focusing on utility as a driver of stablecoin adoption, while Ripple President Monica Long described the move as part of a shift from stablecoins as trading instruments toward financial infrastructure. The companies are targeting systems that can operate continuously, improve access to liquidity and make capital available outside conventional banking hours.
RLUSD is already accessible through Bitstamp and Robinhood Chain, and it is set to become available on Robinhood’s trading platform. CNBC reported that RLUSD’s market capitalization has grown beyond $2.5 billion, though larger stablecoins still dominate the market. The partnership expands both retail-facing availability and institutional pathways around the same dollar-denominated asset.
Ripple gains another distribution and infrastructure partner, while Robinhood receives access to settlement, treasury and financing tools built around RLUSD. The announcement arrives amid rising interest in stablecoins and digital financial services, and could support liquidity across Ripple’s ecosystem. However, the commercial impact will depend on how extensively Robinhood and Bitstamp clients use the new services across trading, settlement and capital-management workflows.
