Stablecoin Corridors and Tokenized Treasury Collateral Reshape Institutional Crypto

Key takeaways:

  • Anchorage-Bitso corridor signals stablecoin remittance competition, pressuring fees and boosting MXNB adoption in US-Mexico flows.
  • Yield-bearing Treasury collateral on Avalanche could improve capital efficiency, but undisclosed haircuts pose systemic risks.
  • Watch actual transaction volumes and counterparty disclosures; tokenized collateral hype may outpace verifiable institutional adoption.

On Oct. 27, 2026, institutional crypto infrastructure expanded on two fronts: cross-border stablecoin payments and yield-bearing tokenized Treasury collateral.

Anchorage Digital and Bitso deepen the US-Mexico stablecoin corridor. Anchorage Digital expanded a custody-and-listing arrangement with Latin American crypto platform Bitso. The federally chartered crypto bank now custodies MXNB, Bitso’s Mexican peso stablecoin, across six blockchains: Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Arc. Bitso listed USDPT and USAT, the U.S. dollar stablecoins from Western Union and Tether, both issued and custodied by Anchorage.

The arrangement targets the U.S.-Mexico remittance corridor, one of the world’s largest money-transfer routes, moving tens of billions of dollars annually. The companies said about 15% of that flow already runs through Bitso’s infrastructure. Anchorage CEO Nathan McCauley said: 'The US-Mexico corridor is where stablecoins stop being a thesis and start moving real money at scale.' Bitso’s head of stablecoin, Ben Reid, said clients can now access the full dollar-peso corridor fully onchain, backed by a federally chartered bank.

Lynq and ZeroBeta enable yield-bearing tokenized Treasury collateral on Avalanche. Lynq and ZeroBeta connected institutional borrowing and trading margin to tokenized U.S. Treasuries on Avalanche. Lynq’s collateral lock function places eligible holdings in escrow while the underlying asset continues accruing interest. ZeroBeta’s BlueShift risk platform calculates margin requirements and instructs Lynq to pledge, top up, or release collateral as values cross agreed thresholds.

Lynq reports more than $89 million in platform assets and over 40 institutional firms onboarded. CEO Jerald David said institutions should not have to choose between using an asset as collateral and continuing to earn interest on it. ZeroBeta CEO Varuna Wijesundera described the integration as bringing risk and collateral management tools onto an interest-bearing settlement network.

The companies did not name an exchange, lender, or trading desk that has completed a transaction through the new connection, and the announcement did not disclose margin thresholds, borrowing rates, or collateral haircuts.

The moves extend a broader race to wire stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets into institutional market plumbing. Circle recently pushed deeper into Latin America with a USDC settlement pilot in Colombia. In U.S. institutional financing, BNY described a completed tokenized Treasury repo transaction with Citadel Securities in an Oct. 13 announcement, with plans to introduce digital cash and tokenized deposit capabilities.
